Bandsaw box made from bookmatched claro walnut, ebony, and mdf aka "BOXZILLA"
This is a huge bandsaw box! Boxzilla is made of book matched claro walnut on the front adding a ton of detail. When you cut a book match you never really know whats inside and sometimes it takes every ounce of restraint you have within yourself to not push the piece through the bandsaw too fast and ruin the cut just to see whats inside. When I opened up the the pieces of claro i couldn't have been happier. The sapwood is not too overpowering and is just perfect. The contrast between the lighter sapwood and darker heartwood gives off a shimmying effect. I decided to use the whole thing and make my biggest box to date. The craftsmanship is top notch and character of the wood is second to none. This box has extra room for jewelry or trinkets and would look good anywhere. I top coated with gloss polyurethane for a mirror like sheen and wet sanded for a smooth surface. I added solid ebony drawer pulls for a touch of black and used black flock in the drawers to bring the piece together. The box measures 13 inches tall x 11 inches wide x 6 inches deep and weighs 13 pounds.
