Orange With Black Byzantine Chain Maille Earrings
Chain maille earrings made from orange and black anodized aluminum rings were handmade into cute Byzantine dangles. In this pair, the black rings are used as the connector rings and the orange in the surrounding rings, leaving the black to peek out from within all of the orange. One of my favorite things to do is to mix textures or finishes, and in this pair of earrings, I chose to add a lampwork glass bead to dangle below each earring. The lampwork beads are solid black, and etched to create a matte effect, chosen to illustrate some great examples of mixing finishes. The beads were made by Dave at Royal Oak Acres in VA. These earrings dangle from black niobium ear wires. Niobium is one of the pure metals and rarely causes an allergic skin reaction. Niobium is very useful for jewelry components because of its hypoallergenic quality. A nice feature of these chain maille earrings: the rings are aluminum, so they're very lightweight, and easy on the ears! Length: 1 3/4” Drop: 1 3/8” Lampwork beads: 10x6mm Weave width: ~7mm
