Art Glass Squirrel, Nature Inspired Gift
Squirrel Nutkin aint got nothin' on this little character...but in reality, it's based on my childhood recollections of a newborn orphaned squirrel that my mother adopted which grew into a great companion for my little sister Buzz--Sammy the Squirrel. Probably inspired by the impertinence of Beatrix Potter's Squirrel Nutkin, and/or the physical version of Crico (sheet rock and spackling compound, anyone?)--not to be confused with Crico Word Game. I used reclaimed scraps of German Antique glass (that I was in the right place at the right time--nosin' around), and assorted drawn antique and hand cast glass. The art glass squirrel has a hand painted eye...permanent glass paint, eh? What is reality, you ask? try reading Tolstoy's "What Men Live By", "Master and Man", and the "Kreutzer Sonata"--perfunctory (or is that obligatory? or is that oboe solo?), accordion, bass and mandolin in the background while slurping a lovely Kwak from Belgium, and nibbling an assortment of olives from Emily's Lebanese Deli. By the way, the sun catcher takes up about a 5" x 5" space...that'd be about 25 square inches in the scheme of things...and don't forget, due to the handmade nature of this piece, slight variations are to be expected and applauded...as in nature...
