My jewelry partner and I love to rockhound (collect and dig for gemstones) and we really love to make jewelry out of the stones we find! This one particular geode cluster with small crystal point druzies, called to me when I picked it up. It said, PENDANT in COPPER! So that is what I did. A little bit about the process in the making this piece: Depending on the crystal or stone we soak them in vinegar and soapy water for up to a week. Then finish cleaning by hand with small brushes. I usually don't like using harsh chemicals, especially if it is going to be used as jewelry! This drusy/ or druzy, was soaked in vinegar and scrubbed with soapy water. Some natural dark crevices still remain deep within the crystal cluster. I took 100% pure copper wire and wire wrapped free form around the stone and hammered the prongs in front as well as throughout here and there, also the two spirals near the top of the pendant are also hammered. Afterwards the piece was carefully patinaed, then buffed to a rustic coloring and shine. It is a very artsy, unique piece. I absolutely love it! It hangs on an adjustable leather cord that adjusts to a choker to 30+ inches in length. This piece is sure to make a statement! All of our jewelry is handmade in our home studios, crafted with care. Thanks so much!
