Wood Fired Shino Bottle - Pottery Bud Vase
This bottle was thrown by me on the pottery wheel. After it dried and was fired once, it got glazed with a shino glaze. I chose this traditional glaze because it loves the wood kiln, and that's where this piece was destined. Using wood as a fuel source means you have a lot of ash ending up in the kiln. This melts in the heat and forms a glaze, creating beautiful and unique results every firing. The flecks are spots where ash landed and melted, as well as the beautiful green pool around the neck. The awesome grey color is caused by the glaze stealing carbon from the atmosphere in the kiln, unpredictable and unique each firing! This little bottle would look beautiful with a few small stems, like Lily of the Valley, or on its own. It measures a little over 3" tall I will happily combine shipping.
