Soda Pottery Fired Vase
This vase or bottle was thrown by me on the potter's wheel. When it was ready to be fired I glazed it simply, with a blue/white inside (to make it watertight) and nothing on the outside surface. The beautiful browns, oranges and sandy color came from being fired in a soda kiln for up to 16 hours. Gas fueled and uncontrollable, dry baking soda and soda ash are blown into the kiln at almost 2500 degrees. I glazed only the inside to seal it, the outside bare clay to highlights the effect of the kiln. This piece measures about 4.5" tall I will happily combine shipping.
