Soda Fired Bottle - Pottery Vase
I glazed this little pot with a clear glaze on the inside, and left the clay bare on the outside. Then, it was fired in a soda kiln. In a soda firing, when the kiln gets to over two thousand degrees near the end of the firing, a brick is removed and baking soda or soda ash are blown in. It volatilizes in the heat and air and blows around to create shiny surfaces and flecks. The color of the clay was also affected by the open flame, toasting it to the rich orange/sand/brown colors. This piece measures almost 4" tall I will happily combine shipping. If you prefer not to receive a refund through paypal, please contact me before you purchase Please ask me about wholesale!
