Soda Fired Bottle - Pottery Vase
I threw this vase on the potter's wheel and while it was still wet gave it some belly buttons. Then it was fired in an outdoor soda kiln. Gas fueled and uncontrollable, dry baking soda and soda ash are blown into the kiln at almost 2500 degrees. This piece was not glazed, leaving the bare clay exposed to the kiln's atmosphere. It was fired on its side and the grey areas are where the soda hit, leaving a "skirt" of heavy deposit. It measures about 5.75" tall I will happily combine shipping.
