Blue Turquoise and Semi-Precious Necklace
This necklace is like a treasure chest of beautiful stone! While the stones and their arrangements are basically the same, expect some variations in shape and size - especially with the red bamboo coral. The large oval focal turquoise bead has been stabilized in India, but it resembles the Lone mountain or Number 8 mine type of turquoise: Blue to deep blue in color with darker blue or black matrix. Measuring 20-24mm wide by 25x34mm in length, and 10-13mm in depth. Its a nice chunk of genuine turquoise! The red coral is dyed bamboo coral. I do not use "Corallium japonicum" coarl, the genuine red coral from the Mediterranean sea and Pacific ocean due to its "endangered species" status - the result of centuries of over-harvest. Nor do I support trading of it. But because nothing sets off turquoise like red coral, I find the bamboo suits just fine. But I do caution people not to expose it to long periods of heat (direct sun) or moisture. The coral will vary tremendously in shape, but the 2 pieces next to the center turquoise stone wil be 10-12mm x 12-20mm. The Lapis nugget next to the focal turquoise will of course vary in shape, as will the nugget of Black Tourmaline. The other turquoise nuggets will vary from 8-12mm x 12-16mm in size. The Aquamarine nuggets will vary from 8-12mm x 12-18mm. This collage of stone is accented by high quality lead & nickle-free pewter-based findings and clasp, plated silver, copper, or gold. The toggle clasp is "Sunburst" style. I used high quality SoftFlex nylon coated beading wire, 49 strand .015 for durability. This is such a versatile necklace: Worn by itself and with jeans for a casual look, or layered with a small Lapis choker and/or long necklace for a special night out. I wear mine ALL the time - it goes with everything. Enjoy! Your new treasure will arrive nicely packaged and ready for gift-giving.
