All Folk Art designs are "American Country Primitives"- created mostly out of vintage quilts, coverlets & fabric adding a quaint softness & rich historical past to each creation. All adornments are handcrafted, from clay, paper. fabric, wood, real goose feathers, primitive by nature, to compliment the design- twigs, branches, cones, etc. At times a vintage adornment may be included- it's presence will always be part of the listing description. Don't do glitter, don't do glitz- don't add "manufactured" accessories. Wool from sweet American-raised sheep is used- never fur from any animal. Every piece is quaint, primitive & heartwarming with a strong emphasis on Americana. "FORSYTHIA" a Folk Art Pumpkin Head Doll ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Primitively precious- "Forsythia" or simply "Thia", as her friends call her begged to remain primitively faceless... that way she can thoughtfully reflect your expression every time you catch a glimpse of her or choose to pleasantly converse. She is dressed in vintage quilt- her neck is wrapped in a piece of antique 1825 American hand woven coverlet. Her head & hands arms are hand painted fabric- distressed & aged with loads of additional primitive hand stitching for extra timeworn charm. She's returning from the Fall Folk Festival with goodies in tow- an Autumn garland- handmade from allspice, hand-cut primitive stars & handmade leaves, a walnut shell basket full of the same and a handmade pantry box, surely filled with shortbread & jam. "Forsythia" is adorn with twig stem & natural wild grapevine & hand stitched flyspeck & hand-painted detail. She is stuffed with cloth for weight & feel & securely mounted under the lid of a hand-painted, distressed, papier mache' box with an inside panel that covers all mounting. She is about 6.5" h & overall height from box base to top stem is about 8.5" h. The box is about 3.75" d x 2" h & hand-painted inside & out- a perfect place to store small treasures or potpourri. Dusted with spices- "Forsythia" looks & smells like Autumn but you will want to keep her around all year long... she's perfect company for anyone who appreciates vintage textiles and has a infinite weakness for sweet, little pumpkin heads. She's definitely a keeper- a lovely folk art investment ! Intended for decorative display, not for children.
