This is a hand carved, hand painted, bird. It is similar to a Virgionia Rail but I don't really attempt to create an exact bird, preferring to let the wood, the knives, and my mood of the day dictate what will happen. I carve because it gives me pleasure. It would also be my pleasure to have this wood carving displayed in your home. This carving is carved "in the round" but without the usual depth. It is barely 3/4 of an inch thick. From the tip of it’s beak to the tip of it’s tail, this bird is about 8 ½ inches long. From the bottom of the base to the top of it's head, it is about six inches tall. The base is roughly 9 x 3 inches. The legs are made from 1/8 in steel rods.
