This is a hand carved, hand painted, shorebird. It is similar to a Great Blue Heron but I don't attempt to create an exact bird, preferring to let the wood, the knives, and my mood of the day dictate what will happen. I carve because it gives me pleasure. It would also be my pleasure to have this wood carving displayed in your home.
This carving is carved "in the round" but without the usual depth. It is barely 3/4 of an inch thick. From tip of bill to end of tail, it is about nine inches long. From the bottom of the base to the top of it's head, it is about ten inches tall. the base is roughly 4 x 4 inches. The legs are made from 1/8 in steel rods.
