Handmade Artisan Jewelry with a time-worn sensibility Hello and Welcome! My name is Barbara Kirby and I’d like to thank you for visiting my shop. I use 100% recycled metals whenever possible to create beauty without hurting the earth. A glance will prove that my jewelry is all about making a bold and elegant statement. All items are made in my smoke free home studio in the USA. Most of my jewelry is made from high quality silver, copper and bronze. I use a lot of metal clay and metal wire. Metal clay is an amazing material composed of microscopic metal particles mixed with a non-toxic organic binder and water. Mix it all together and you get metal clay! The clay is moldable like any soft clay, by hand or using molds. After drying, I super-heat the clay in a kiln. The organic binder burns away leaving pure, solid metal. I started designing jewelry in 2003 during what turned out to be a long battle with breast cancer. What started as a hobby to relieve stress and to help focus my attention elsewhere soon became a passion for designing and creating original jewelry pieces with my own hands. I LOVE making special, one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces. Now healthy and cancer free, the most current design series in my work is called "Jewelry for Life." These pieces express my belief in living in the moment and taking the time to experience life's joys. A portion of income from each sale is donated to breast cancer research. Most of my pieces are one of a kind, but sometimes I do additional renderings of a popular piece so I don’t have to turn a good customer away! I add new designs regularly and LOVE to do custom work.
