I've been making jewelry for almost two decades. I'm obsessed with everything vintage, especially vintage brooches, I love them as an art form but noticed that few people seem to wear them anymore. I decided to make them more accessible by creating necklaces and bracelets around them. I'm also obsessed with producing a high quality piece of jewelry that will last, SO: I don't use cotton string, skin oils are acidic and can eat through anything, using an organic fiber string ensures that the piece won't last very long. I use a product called "Soft flex 49" which is 49 strands of steel coated in nylon with silver or gold crimp beads. This means that the pieces in my collection will stay together indefinitely with normal use. The brooches I use have been collected over years, they date I've been making jewelry for almost two decades. The brooches I use have been collected over years, they date from the Victorian period to the 1990's.from the Georgian period to the 1970's. I find them everywhere and spend a lot of time repairing and reinforcing them to make them suitable fir my purposes. I also use leather and in some cases needlepoint to enhance the pins and beads.
