Mountain lions, also called pumas and cougars, are powerful and majestic cats, the largest and most secretive in the Rocky Mountains. Seldom seen by humans, these big cats are becoming more and more threatened by human encroachment and development, in addition to the decline by habitat loss and trophy hunting. Much like their distant cousins, the domestic cats, mountain lions groom themselves frequently and they even purr, though much louder. Often, all hikers see of these secretive cats may be a footprint left behind. Each of my figurines is hand crafted using 100% lead-free Britannia metal, known as pewter. Britannia metal (also called britannium or Britannia ware) is a specific type of pewter alloy, favoured for its silvery appearance and smooth surface. The composition is typically about 92% tin, 6% antimony, and 2% copper. I carefully pour and finish each piece so the final product is something you will treasure for many years. I've been casting pewter for over 30 years and, to many, this is seen as a lost art. The pictured piece is a very close example of the final product you will receive. As I hand-cast each figurine, there may be minor differences between the item pictured and the one you receive; I consider this to be one of the many unique benefits of purchasing a hand-crafted item. If you are interested in purchasing multiples of any of the items in my shop, please contact me, as I am happy to accommodate! See photos for approximate measurements.
