The snowman brings back childhood memories to everyone that has lived where there was sufficient snow to make one. A crumpled old hat, a broom, carrot nose and coal for eyes & mouth make him complete. My generation didn't have access to coal so we used stones. Then there was the most famous snowman of all, of course, Frosty the Snowman, born in 1950. This hand cast pewter figurine is created in my small studio, located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, where we receive 131+ inches of snowfall each winter, creating inspiration for this final creation. Each of my figurines is hand crafted using 100% lead-free Britannia metal, known as pewter. Britannia metal (also called britannium or Britannia ware) is a specific type of pewter alloy, favoured for its silvery appearance and smooth surface. The composition is typically about 92% tin, 6% antimony, and 2% copper. I carefully pour and finish each piece so the final product is something you will treasure for many years. I've been casting pewter for over 30 years and, to many, this is seen as a lost art. The pictured piece is a very close example of the final product you will receive. As I hand-cast each figurine, there may be minor differences between the item pictured and the one you receive; I consider this to be one of the many unique benefits of purchasing a hand-crafted item. If you are interested in purchasing multiples of any of the items in my shop, please contact me, as I am happy to accommodate!
