The black bear is the most common bear of the Rocky Mountains and a state symbol of California. Black bears can range in color from black to cinnamon-brown and tend to be wary of humans, unlike grizzly bears. Bears were revered by Native Americans in legend and lore. This bear is a nice, durable and attractive refrigerator magnet, with a strong magnet attached to the back. Made to last!
Each of my figurines is hand crafted using 100% lead-free Britannia metal, known as pewter. Britannia metal (also called britannium or Britannia ware) is a specific type of pewter alloy, favoured for its silvery appearance and smooth surface. The composition is typically about 92% tin, 6% antimony, and 2% copper. I carefully pour and finish each piece so the final product is something you will treasure for many years. I've been casting pewter for over 30 years and, to many, this is seen as a lost art.
The pictured piece is a very close example of the final product you will receive. As I hand-cast each figurine, there may be minor differences between the item pictured and the one you receive; I consider this to be one of the many unique benefits of purchasing a hand-crafted item.
