This is yet another one of my beautiful handmade Turkish drop spindles. This is the smallest size that I make at the moment. My wife can actually fit this little spindle in her eyeglasses case when its taken apart along with her glasses. The cross pieces or "whorl" is 2 1/2" wide and very meticulously handmade from rift saw on White Oak. The spindle is hand turned from Walnut and is approximately 3" long. Turkish spindles are very fun to spin on and you can even create a center pull ball as you are spinning. This spindle weighs roughly 7.6 grams and is suitable for spinning very fine yarns.
