This is a beautiful handmade Turkish drop spindle. This is the smallest size that I make at the moment. My wife actually can fit this little spindle in her eyeglasses case when its taken apart along with her glasses. The cross pieces or "whorl" are 2 1/2" wide and handmade from Cocobolo. The spindle is hand turned from maple and is approximately 3" long. Turkish spindles are very fun to spin on and you can even create a center pull ball as you are spinning. This spindle weighs roughly 10.9 grams and is suitable for spinning very fine yarns.
