RALEIGH HILLS is part of our 'Oregon Town' series. Raleigh Hills was named after Raleigh Robinson, a resident of the neighborhood. A post office named Raleigh was established in the area April 1892.
Anja hand-knitted this slouch-beanie from a yarn made of Silk and Bamboo, with a Cotton brim , and added three stacked buttons to the front. The hat is knitted in a lace pattern.
This item is unique because: While this hat is made from commercially available yarn, we doubt that it could be reproduced in the exact way, since every knitter's stitches are unique.
Much care and work has gone into this hat and needs to be hand-washed. Hand-washing is actually rather simple: Put the item in a sink with warm water and a little bit of detergent or shampoo and let it sit for a little. Gently knead it a bit, rinse and gently wring it, and roll it into a towel to absorb the remaining moisture. Then let it air dry flat. Please do not hang it up to dry. It might stretch because cotton and linen are natural fibers. For hand-dyed items, you can put a little bit of vinegar into the rinse for better color retention.
