"Red-headed Woodpecker" original painting
"Red-headed Woodpecker" Oil painting on stretched canvas 6"x6" For my mini landscape series I've started with a blank, black canvas and build up my image from there. The black lines you see around the objects, such as individual hills, mountains, flowers, trees, and clouds, are the void of intentionally unpainted areas. Oil paints, unlike acrylics, take a long time to dry and therefore test my patience and skills when it comes to keeping the colors from turning to mud. The 1.5" thick sides have been painted with black acrylic paint and hanging hardware has been attached to the back for quick installation.
